Who he is

Devlon runs Windhaven, the war-camp in the Illyrian Mountains where Rhysand was sent to train as a boy and met Cassian and Azriel. By camp-lord standards he was the fair one. When a half-breed and two bastards wanted to run the Blood Rite, he let them, and when they came back Carynthians he didn't void it. That brotherhood exists partly because he didn't get in the way. Partly. We're not building him a statue.
The women
Chores first, he says.
He stopped clipping wings. He didn't stop believing females belong at the hearth. Every time Rhys pushed for Illyrian women to train with the war-band, Devlon pushed back: the girls have chores to do first. Rhys's answer has been the same for five hundred years. Training first, chores after. Emerie's shop sits in his camp, and her wings were clipped by her own father. That's the Windhaven he keeps.
